Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten.

As anyone who has seen my succession of Tweets and Tumblr posts upon finishing The Fault in Our Stars, you’ll know that I was a complete mess. It was nearing midnight and I was pathetically sitting on the floor of my room, crying over this as makeup streaked down my face. My dog even tried to come and comfort me, probably thinking I was a complete nutcase.

Despite all that though, I truly loved this book. I’ve been putting it off for awhile because I knew it was going to be sad, and it was getting a lot of hype which always sort of scares me away from a book. However, I was pleasantly surprised and swept off my feet by John Green and his writing. I’ve only read Looking for Alaska by him which I didn’t really like (though I should probably revisit now) so that made me apprehensive as well. His writing has certainly grown though!

Of course now all I want to do is go see the movie (which I doubt is in theaters anymore near me). And I can’t wait to move onto the next John Green novel!

(Below are two pictures I snapchatted to my friends right after finishing this book)

  1. Lol–I second your sobbing mess comment. 🙂 I really want to see it, too but need to sneak out on a day when my husband isn’t around. His tastes run more to two-dimensional character action movies–not that those aren’t fun sometimes. Glad to hear there’s someone else out there who shares my tears over the awesomeness that is this book!
