You Are Cordially Invited . . .

to your brother’s wedding where he will marry rich, famous Marni Shay, at the River Lodge, the most elite resort in Colorado, the state you chose to go to college in so you could escape your family, except they’ll all be there. Enjoy ten fun-filled days of avoiding your mother, who still thinks you’re not girly enough; planning your brother’s bachelor party, because you are his best man, er, girl; and, oh yeah, trying not to drool all over Hot Connor, who happens to be in your English seminar and work at the River Lodge. Put your best foot forward, and . . .

Don’t miss the most joyous celebration of the year!

Yeah, right.

I really appreciate stories that take the time to set up a female character that is so life-like and real that you almost feel as if you’re peering into her private diary. That’s exactly what Emma Harrison does for our main character Farrah. She’s a normal college girl with flaws and self-deprecating worries like any normal teen. So, great main character? Check!

I also love when authors take the time to include a best friend for the main character and make her just as kick ass and awesome (so awesome that she almost steals the limelight with her funny one-liners and worldly advice). Not to mention that she deviates from the status quo of her rich family and likes to live life by the less predictable route. Great secondary character? Check, again!

The story itself was really cute too. As someone who goes to school in Colorado and is familiar with the life there, it was a lot of fun to read about a setting I could relate to so much. Even if you’re not from Colorado (like me) or have never visited there, you are thrown into the world of snow and biting cold, while also leaving some space to look for that one special guy to snuggle up to during the winter months (and this one is mentioned as a feminist from the get-go! Yay!).

Overall, this is a really cute story for fans of anything by Rachel Hawthorne, Stephenie Perkins, and any other cute and sappy romances that you can think of. And it’s perfect for those upcoming fall and winter months!
