Hillcrest High Boys’ School is admitting girls for the first time, and Tara couldn’t be more excited. New friends? Check. Cute boys? Check. Mean sister gone? Wrong…

When she discovers Maxie is joining the school too, Tara is crushed. How can she be her own person when her cleverer, prettier sister seems determined to outshine her? And sibling trouble isn’t Tara’s only problem.

With only ten girls in the year, they’re going to have to stick together to survive. Boys against girls? Bring. It. On.

I haven’t read a middle grade novel in a long time, but reading this one brought back all these great memories of middle grade books I used to read. It also really truly represented what it’s like to be a girl in middle school and how catty other girls (and boys!) can be. I think it was a wonderfully real representation of what happens in middle school.

I also like that this is a novel that takes place in the UK, because I haven’t read a novel based there in awhile. It was cute to see all the different slang words and how they sometimes would poke fun at American’s. I think it was overall a really fun read and it is one of those feel-good novels that get your blood boiling over the antagonists and make you wonder what is going to happen next.

Overall a great read for kids in middle school and beyond!
